This gem is from Norman’s own Hoot Gipson. This recording found me at the pinnacle of my technical prowess at the same time a band that really had their shit together came in and we captured magic. The musicality of the band mixed with the cultivated sound of their instruments, proved to be a wonderful combination in the studio. From the opener “Four Square” to the closer of “Strong Arm”, the use of lyrical bass lines and guitar distortions mixed with clean strings at the same time are only surpassed by how close I was able to get the hi hat and kick mic in.
