Founded in Norman, Oklahoma, in 1993 and born out of The Nub Studio, nub records relocated to Austin, Texas, in 1999.

​

In the early 1990s, nub records recorded many local bands and artists using a 4-track reel-to-reel recorder before upgrading to the then state-of-the-art 16-track ADAT system. This was long before the era of digital recording, automation, and computer-based mixing.

​

Before its move to Texas, the label worked with more than 25 artists and produced over 35 albums spanning a wide range of genres—from spoken word and folk to heavy metal and everything in between.

​

Today, nub records continues its commitment to independent music by partnering with featured artists and helping them develop their craft through creative direction, recording, publishing, promotion, and marketing. It is a privilege to collaborate with these talented musicians and creators.
